The former president of Glendale Community College has returned to the field of education.

Education Forward in Arizona has appointed Dr. Teresa Lipa Ruiz as Senior Vice President and President of Advocacy and Programs.

Education Forward Arizona, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, advocates for improvements in education and works to improve the quality of life for all Arizonans. In her role, Lipa Ruiz will be responsible for leading the organization’s educational advocacy efforts and will oversee scholarship and advisory programs serving Arizona students.

Prior to joining Education Forward Arizona, Lipa Ruiz served as the eighth President of the GCC from 2018 through 2022, having previously served as Interim President for two years.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from Arizona State University, a Master of Education from Northern Arizona University, and a Doctorate in Higher and Post-Secondary Education from Arizona State University.
