Midlife MOT was originally launched in job centers across England, working in partnership with career coaches to encourage people to plan for later life and boost their confidence. Following the initial success, the government looked at ways to reach more people with the service and make it accessible to everyone – just like in the UK.

Employment Minister Guy Opperman MP.
We are all living longer and planning for the future is important, but knowing where to start can be overwhelming. Our digital midlife MOT is open and accessible to everyone, and gives people the tools to make informed decisions – about their personal finances, health and careers. I especially encourage older people to take the time to see what it does for them.
Andy Briggs, chief executive of the Phoenix Group and champion of senior civil servants, added:
The introduction of an improved digital MOT open to all is welcome news and will be a vital tool to help people make the most of their long lives by focusing on work, wealth and wellbeing. So much so, that Phoenix team tested its own version of the Midlife MOT, which will be released to colleagues in the coming months.
The desire to stay longer in meaningful work is already important to many people. More experienced, older workers provide a wealth of knowledge but are often written off or ignored for no good reason. Age is no barrier to learning and I encourage businesses to invest in all, longer retention and more skilled workers to enjoy the benefits.
The Digital Midlife MOT is part of a wider government package to help older workers find and get into work, and to help those in work understand what support is available. In the Spring Budget, the Chancellor DWP It will increase the number of people who can access Midlife MOT support in person through their local Jobcentre from 8,000 to 40,000 per year.
The Government’s digital provision will be continually reviewed to ensure it is as interactive and tailored as possible and people will soon be able to access content specific to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
