Austin, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott celebrated three major employment milestones after releasing jobs data for March showing that Texas once again shattered all previous records for total jobs, total Texas employment, and total Texas workforce.
“The promise of Texas knows no bounds,” said Governor Abbott. “Texas continues to set new records across the board for total jobs, the number of people working in Texas, and the size of our young, skilled, diverse, and growing workforce. Texas is also #1 in the nation again in job growth, increasing jobs at a faster rate than the nation as a whole in every industry major and adding more jobs than all other states over the past 12 months. With more Texans working today than ever before, we’re building a greater Texas for the future.”
Jobs data for March was released by the Texas Workforce Commission And the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows new highs in employment:
- Texas reached a new record for total jobs at 13,839,200 as employers added 28,600 jobs during the month.
- Texas reaches a new high for employed Texas workers, including the employed and the self-employed, at 14,298,256.
- Texas is reaching a new high with the largest workforce ever in state history at 14,898,100.
Texas also leads all states for jobs added over the past 12 months at 575,100.
