“I am thrilled that hundreds of high-paying defense manufacturing jobs will be coming to Suffolk County,” said Lalota.
On April 12, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLotta (NY-01) announced that hundreds of new jobs will come to Suffolk County after Raytheon Technologies Corporation was awarded a federal government contract totaling $113,628,201.
The contract will cover Raytheon’s costs to develop upgrades and conversions of the MK 15 Close Weapon System (CIWS) and associated system and hardware repairs. One of the manufacturing facilities that Raytheon will use in this contract is located in Hauppauge, New York
“I am delighted that hundreds of high-paying defense manufacturing jobs are coming to Suffolk County. As the son of a former Grumman Secretary and Navy veteran, I understand how important the defense industrial base is to local families and the Long Island economy,” Lalota said. “Now, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I understand the strategic role that the defense manufacturing base on Long Island plays in ensuring that the U.S. military can deter the next conflict, or win it if necessary. I will always work to make sure that Suffolk County maintains our role important in defending our nation.”
