Earlier this month, SumUP announced key initiatives and partnerships:
- River cleaning: removing 220,462 lbs. of plastic from the Citarum River in Indonesia, the most polluted river in the world. Continue to organize educational campaigns to raise environmental awareness among local communities.
- Wilderness International: sRotation 1,076,391 square feet. Peruvian forests, preserving valuable habitats and biodiversity and offsetting 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
- StoveTeam International: SumUp will support 1,000 families in Central America with safe, fuel-efficient cookstoves. These stoves reduce the risk of lung disease and save 12 tons of carbon dioxide per stove by burning wood more efficiently.

Promote education and create opportunities
The company is currently offering 3-month Java Full Stack development courses to more than 120 students in Chile, Brazil and Colombia. These courses target women, girls, immigrants, LGBTQ+, and other individuals who may have difficulties accessing technology education. Last year, more than 80% of graduates from these courses secured employment after completing the programme.
In addition, SumUp has joined the Dharma Live To support the education of children living in rural India. The company provides a technology platform that helps facilitate this education, and it also pays the teachers’ salaries.
Furthermore, SumUp provides computers and air-conditioning to schools in the Brazilian favelas of MonteAzul and HorizonteAzul, thus creating a learning environment more conducive to students.
