Reports
Attempted malicious wound, 2023-04280202, 1100 of S. Hayes Street. On April 28 at 6:17 p.m., a patrol officer was flagged down by an individual reporting a fight in progress. When the officer got there, he tried to take the suspect into custody, he observed loss prevention and helped take him into custody. The investigation revealed the suspect allegedly entered the store and removed handbags from display cases. The bankruptcy protection officer then confronted the suspect who physically assaulted the bankruptcy protection officer by pushing him to the ground before fleeing the area. Two more bankruptcy protection officers found the suspect outside of the business and tried to arrest the man when the suspect attacked them and pulled out a knife. Medics evaluated loss prevention officers at the scene for minor injuries. During a search incident to the arrest, credit cards that did not belong to the suspect were located. Marcus Lee, 30, was arrested in Washington, DC and charged with malicious wounding, robbery, assault and battery (x2), credit card theft (x3) and possession of burglary tools.
Attempted robbery 2023-04280216, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At 7:38 a.m. on April 28, police were dispatched to a report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered the store, selected merchandise, and attempted to exit the store without paying. The suspect then tried to throw the item at the employee and a struggle ensued. Responding officers took the suspect into custody at the scene and a search of the suspect led to the discovery of suspected narcotics. The suspect and employee suffered minor injuries. Muhammad Abdi, 41, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with attempted burglary, petit larceny, schedule I/II and public intoxication.
Branding, 2023-04290156, 3800 block of Columbia Pike. On April 29 at 2:58 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of suspicious circumstances regarding a stolen vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled the scene at high speed. The investigation revealed that the victim and the known suspects in the vehicle got into a verbal altercation during which one suspect allegedly dropped a weapon. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Dangerous wounds 2023-04300234, Columbia Pike at S. Dinwiddie Ave. On April 30 at 10:49 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the suspect attacked the driver when he got out of the public transport bus. Following the attack, the suspect got out of the bus and fled the scene on foot. The bus driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics before being transported to an area hospital. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a multi-colored mask, black jacket and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
theft, 2023-04300036, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At 2:15 a.m. on April 30, police were dispatched to a report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, responding officers established a perimeter, searched the business and found no one inside. According to the investigation, five suspects forced their way into a business, ransacked it and stole merchandise and fled the scene in two vehicles. The suspects are described as black males, 15-18 years old, 5’7″-5’10” tall, 150-170 pounds. The two suspect vehicles are described as a blue sedan and a bronze crossover. The investigation is ongoing.
attempted robbery, 2023-04300090, 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street. On April 30 at 10:37 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was learned that the victim and the known suspects got into a verbal altercation, at which point the suspect allegedly tried to force his way into the victim’s home and damaged the front door. No injuries were reported. The victim is given information about the process of obtaining bail.
Illegal Entry (Late), 2023-04290139, 800 block of N. Randolph Street. On April 29 at 1:22 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a late breaking and entering. Upon arrival, around 3:00 a.m., an unknown male suspect entered the building and groped in the common area before leaving. Nothing was reported stolen or damaged. The suspect is a black male of medium build, approximately 35-40 years old, approximately 5’10”, wearing a blue shirt, shorts and shoes. The investigation is ongoing.
