GREENSBORO — Without comment, the Greensboro City Council has approved incentives of at least $240,000 for a British aerospace manufacturer to build a maintenance facility here.
Marshall USA, a subsidiary of Marshall Aerospace, has proposed building a $50 million facility at Piedmont Triad International Airport. The company said it will create up to 240 jobs, according to city documents.
The documents say the average pay for the new full-time jobs will be about $73,250 with fringe benefits and no new jobs will pay less than $15 an hour.
The Company expects to create new jobs by December 31, 2027. The incentive grant will expire if the new jobs have not been created and the investment has not been made by that date.
Marshall USA is also eligible for an additional incentive of $250 per job for any new employee whose permanent address is located in “area of influence” or which is set through NCWorks Career Centers.

The company will be paid in five annual installments after the new jobs are created and the investment is confirmed.
Marshall Yandel, the city’s director of economic development, said Marshall USA will also be required to host a job fair for each stage of hiring.
The city included a refund clause that requires maintaining the new jobs for a certain period of time (not yet determined) and spending at least $50 million in capital investment.
The documents say the new facility will allow the company to better meet the US Army’s C-130 maintenance requirements.
The Guildford County Board of Commissioners plans to hold a similar public hearing at its 5:30 p.m. meeting on Thursday. The county will offer up to $308,879 in incentives, plus a $124,000 Local Matching Fund grant. The Board of Directors meets at the Old County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St.
It is also likely that the State Department of Trade stimulus package will be from the Career Development Grant Program.
