Marketing Masterclass: Free Tools for Website Developers

If you run your own business or market for your employer, one of your tasks may be managing and managing the brand’s website.

If you’re building a new website, it’s a big job that requires a lot of input from your colleagues and the right tools to make it stand out.

If you’re on a small or nonexistent budget, you’ll love this article because it shares a bunch of free tools you can use to help you build a website that rocks.

Edit your images for free

As you add images to your website, you may occasionally need to edit them. You may need to resize them or remove the background. While most of these tools offer similar features but at zero cost, there’s no need to sign up for expensive Photos subscriptions.

Here are our free favorites:

All the above image editors are online based and free. You can upload your image and start adjusting the color, adding text and using various visual effects.

When you’re done, save it and download it to your computer. If you’ve been using Microsoft Ink, then stop! These tools give you a powerful image editing option for free!

Make sure your website loads quickly; Get a squeeze!

Be faithful; How often do you compress your images before uploading them to your website? I bet you don’t do it very often, if at all. But compressing your images is important because it helps speed up your website’s loading speed.

If your website is slow to load, visitors will leave your website and click elsewhere.

This means you may lose valuable traffic and potential leads and sales. So commit to compressing your website images starting today.

Don’t get confused by the word compression. Yes, we are reducing file sizes but not the actual file size.

A smaller image FILE is different from reducing the image DIMENSION. For example, if I have an image that measures 7 inches by 11 inches and has a file size of 1 MB, I can use SmushIt to keep it 7 inches by 11 inches and reduce the file size to 200 KB.

Want to do screen lessons? We have found a completely free tool

There are times when you need to share a screenshot with a colleague or you want to record how-to instructions for your website visitors.

Snagit It allows you to take a screenshot of your device’s screen or record a short video of what you’re doing on your device.

When you take a screenshot, Snagit allows you to display certain parts of the script with colored boxes, arrows, insert comments, etc. You can then save the screenshot to their server for free, and they’ll give you a link to share it. Screenshot with anyone.

If you’re recording a video, Snagit will also save it for you, upload it to their servers at no cost, and give you a unique link to share. This makes sharing your video lessons clean and efficient since you’re not attaching bulky video files to emails.

Help! I want a professional

You can’t be an expert in everything, and building a website can be difficult, especially if you need to add code to the back end to make it look visually appealing.

They didn’t teach coding when I was in school, so if I need to do something on a website with code, I often reach for a few free tools (there is a fee for the service, but search experts are free.)

Fiverr, the world’s largest digital services marketplace, offers buyers and sellers a digitally streamlined marketing platform. The specific term for a service provided by a seller on Fiverr is a ‘gig’. Sellers can choose their starting price when creating Gigs. Then buyers buy a gig and send a direct message to the seller.

99Designs and CrowdSpring allow you to post jobs on their respective websites, and experts will start reading what you’re looking for and submitting their ideas for review. If you want a graphic designer to design a logo for you, imagine 20 different freelance designers showing you their work (and you don’t have to pay)! You only pay for the design you like.

Get an email that links to your website’s domain

If you build a website using a content management system, you should make sure it provides an email interface. Alternatively, you can configure the following:

Email: [email protected]

Doesn’t look very professional, does it?

I often see many small business owners with over vans showing their email address [email protected] and I think to myself, all they need to do is buy a domain ( for a few pounds and then set up their email address. It’s very easy!

Google Business Apps

Google business applicationsaka The G-Suite, gives you the Gmail interface (easy to use) and the reliability of Gmail with professional email.

So, instead of (for example) [email protected], Google Business Apps allows you to have [email protected].

Now, Google business apps are not free.

wait what You said this blog is about free tools!

And somehow it is. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial and see how it works. If you like it, you can sign up for an annual subscription which costs £55 a year. That’s £4.60 a month. A small price to pay for a professional look. For what it’s worth, I use this for my email [email protected], so I can check how good it is.

Track your website traffic and digital marketing activity with Google Analytics

Google Analytics has been in the news recently as they are about to launch their latest version, Google Analytics 4.

Google Analytics is a free tracking tool that you can “plug in” to your website builder and it will track all visitor activity within your website.

Most website builders will have some tutorial or place where you can embed Google Analytics. It records interesting statistics such as how many visitors visit your website, how long they spend on your website on average, how long they spend on each page, how many pages they visit on average, and which pages they visit before leaving.

If you have universal code (currently called Google Analytics) on your website, set up the new Google Analytics 4 tool and add the code to your website and your traffic will continue to be tracked. This blog will be published after the June 30, 2023 deadline, so Universal will stop tracking your web data in advance.

Do you back up your data?

Don’t assume that your website crashes or your work laptop gets stolen. It can, and it does. According to, 10,000 laptops are stolen every year, so don’t rest assured that your data is safe.

Google Drive

If you use Google Business Apps and get a Gmail email address (which looks like a corporate email address), you also get access to Google Drive. It’s cloud-based, and you can back up all the files on your device, and it costs you nothing!
