Today, chatbots do it all. From marketing and writing to producing graphics too. It is no wonder why so many people including freelancers feel threatened that their livelihoods may be at stake as technology has no plans to slow down.
Thanks to this survey, Americans have been quizzed about their thoughts on the impact of AI on jobs. Will it show an upswing or a downswing, or will it simply have no impact on the availability of jobs in the country.
A total of 20 different occupations were questioned and it was demonstrated that AI shows a decrease in job availability. So while it may seem like a worthwhile endeavor, the drawbacks are there. Moreover, most respondents generally feel that this type of revolution in technology will lead to job declines in sectors such as manufacturing, retail sales, and even customer service.
Artificial intelligence may cause an increase in the number of jobs in the computer programming industry, and the same is true for engineering and data science. But the general consensus is that even in such areas, AI is more likely to remove jobs than to add them.
In terms of how much AI developments will affect the industry they’re currently in, Americans are definitely divided here. But overall, the general sentiment was more pessimistic rather than optimistic.
Many people say that it will lead to a decrease in jobs rather than an increase in them. But a large percentage of people felt that this effect would be counteracted. It is the younger cohort and those with college degrees are more likely than others to see an increase in jobs in this line.
Those who claim to use AI tools at work frequently are more likely than others to state that AI will benefit them and cause an increase in jobs in the industry.
Americans claim that this is like a two-way sword. You have some great and some not-so-great points supporting AI progress on the subject of job availability.
Many people feel that AI will increase productivity and innovation as well as the number of routine tasks performed. On the one hand, they feel that AI will reduce worker and consumer satisfaction. Americans also see AI reducing costs related to operations.
Americans who use these AI tools feel workplaces should include AI and watch the benefits unfold. While those who do not use it are more skeptical. Both full-time and part-time citizens say AI needs to be organized to monitor what is being done.
Sectors like education are less afraid of being replaced by technology, but graphic designers on the other hand are more worried, which makes sense.
The poll went on to mention whether Americans are concerned about artificial intelligence causing an accident human race to end. The results showed how 27% are somewhat anxious and 23% are not anxious. 19% are very worried and 17% are not worried at all. 13% said they were not sure.
Finally, a lengthy poll by YouGov America asked respondents how they felt about artificial intelligence Smarter than people. And the vast majority felt that it could happen a lot because they voted for it to some extent.
27% feared this would be the end result and similarly expressed concern and anxiety. 15% were not sure and 14% said it was not likely.
Interestingly, 9% of the respondents felt that this was out of the question while 6% said it had already happened.
