Factory to bring hundreds of new jobs in Moses Lake

City says 7,000 summer jobs are available for Boston youth ages 14 to 18

MOSES LAKE, WA — A second US Battery Active Material Plant (BAM-2) is being built on a commercial scale in Moses Lake.

Group14 Technologiesa global manufacturer and supplier of advanced silicon battery technology, expects to begin manufacturing and delivering silicon battery technology in Moses Lake by 2024.

“Because of the importance of process innovation, we are moving full steam ahead with building our second commercial plant in Washington state in order to allow us to move at a pace that matches today’s increasingly elevated demands,” said Rick Costantino, Associate. Founder and CTO at Group14 Technologies.

According to the company, the one million square foot campus will serve as an economic and community anchor, opening 600 new construction, manufacturing and operations jobs for the first two units.

The two new large manufacturing units will be able to produce 2,000 tons per annum of each of SCC55, a micronized silicon powder that is custom-tuned and ready-to-use in the battery industry. Production lines for the first two units are expected to start in 2024.

The factory is expected to open more factories in the future to continue expanding its footprint in Moses Lake. The company committed to purchasing more than $30 million in US steel for plant and equipment supplied by US manufacturers.

The one million square foot campus will be home to the world’s largest manufacturer of advanced silicon battery materials for electric vehicle (EV) programs to meet global decarbonization goals.
