The Russell – Eisenhower Knights rally fell short in the bottom of the seventh inning on Wednesday as Union City won the District 3 baseball game 6-4 at Verner Park.
The Bears opened up a 6-0 lead and held that lead heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Knights batters went to work and cut the lead in half at 6-3.
Eisenhower chose Aiden Nichols and Cole Kellogg alone. Cameron Jakobczak singled to drive in Nichols to put the Knights on the board. Kyle Hunt followed with a two-run single to make it 6-3.
Eisenhower had the bases loaded before Bears pitcher White Post grounded the Knights to end the inning.
The Knights’ defense was solid and put the Bears in order at the top of the seventh inning.
