Cristina Casas, MD, pediatrician at Daisy Pediatrics, has a vision to provide more education to the Santa Clarita Valley community regarding health. She wanted to do it in a fun way that could also involve the kids.

Casas organized the Santa Clarita Children’s Fair with local Santa Clarita Valley vendors on Saturday, combining her vision with the Easter weekend to create an event that is both educational and fun.

“I thought we needed a gallery that would actually showcase health education and service vendors in our area and that’s kind of where the idea originated,” said Casas.

Local vendors filled the center as a way for attendees to learn more about their business while stamping on attendees’ easter egg maps.

Gisbel Nguyen, one of the attendees, said: “I saw they would have a couple of vendors that catered to children, and so I thought it would be a good opportunity and see local vendors that are here that I can support and then do something fun for my son.”

Once attendees received every stamp they needed, they were able to hand in their maps as a ticket to a drawing for a variety of prizes.

Samantha Welch, SCV franchisor of Fit 4 Moms, set up a stroller class to not only have exposure, but also create an experience that moms and their babies can participate in together.

“We do fitness for moms at every stage of motherhood,” Welch said. “The stroller class is a 60-minute full-body workout where moms can bring their kids with them to exercise or work out in the parks… We incorporate fun for the kids while they exercise, so it’s a bonding experience for kids and moms to make friends with their mom and then also to exercise.” exercises.”

No matter the weather (as Casas said it’s been “weird” lately), the kids’ fair was ready to offer a day-early Easter celebration for SCV kids.
