Walls surround what will one day be Portland’s first Din Tai Fung. (KOIN)
Portland, Ore. (KOIN) – International Taiwanese pancake chain Din Tai Fung is holding a recruitment event this week in anticipation of the opening of its new restaurant at Pioneer Place.
The highly anticipated restaurant multi-day job fair will be held from April 18th to April 22nd between 11am and 5pm. The event will be held at the restaurant’s future location at 700 SW 5th Ave. Suite 1053, next to the water fountain on the food court level of the mall.
Initially expected to open this spring, Din Tai Fung spokeswoman Danielle Alcock told KOIN 6 News that the opening has been delayed.
“Din Tai Fung will open its newest restaurant location at Pioneer Place in the summer of 2023 and we are excited to invite you to our upcoming recruitment event,” reads the company’s recruitment announcement. “Join us to meet our team and learn more about the positions we are currently hiring for. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know our company and see how you can contribute to our team.”
The new restaurant is hiring for a variety of positions, including in-house dumpling cooks, which the company proudly displays to shoppers passing by the windowed kitchen walls.

- In front of the home support staff: Busser, Cashier, Greet, Food/Exhibition Runner – $14.75/hr + Discretionary Tips $45 to $90 per shift
- servers$14.75 hourly + discretionary tip $90 to $168 per shift
- Kitchen staffPrep Cook, Line Cook, Dishwasher, Bubba/janitor – $20.50 to $24.44 per hour
- Prepare dumplings: $22.50 to $23.45 per hour
