City says 7,000 summer jobs are available for Boston youth ages 14 to 18

Debra A. Sadler, 72, of Altoona, passed away Saturday afternoon at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Altoona after a prolonged illness. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Robert M. Erndell and Grace M. (Alison) Erndell.

She married Charles Sadler on May 7, 1977, at Leswin United Methodist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2024.

Surviving a nephew, Walter J. “Wali” Zapotochny II, and his wife Melissa of Altoona. a special cousin, Denise Padelford, and her husband, Lee, and their son, Kyle, of Taunton, Massachusetts; multiple extended family members; and her best friend, fur baby, Max Sadler.

Debra’s death was preceded by her brother, Michael Caine. and her sister, Lynn Zapotochny.

Mrs. Sadler was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Catholic Church, Lakemont.

In 1968 she graduated from Altoona District High School.

Debra retired as a wound care technician from Bon Secours/UPMC Altoona in 2012 after 40 years of service.

She was an active volunteer in Making Steps Against Breast Cancer. She also enjoyed playing buncos, attending festivals, shopping, listening to country music, attending country concerts, and attending the monthly luncheon for retired hospital employees. In particular, Debra loved spending time with her family.

A Friends Reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc. 501 Sixth Ave. , Altoona. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial contributions to Make Strides of Central Pennsylvania, American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
