
Canva has created an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that allows users to change their clothes and hairstyles on photos using only text.
Canva, an easy-to-use design platform and perhaps Adobe’s biggest competition, added several new AI-powered editing features last month. However, his Magic Edit tool has particularly excited the internet.

As an official tutorial On the Canva website, the Magic Edit tool allows users to “brush” over a part of a photo and specify exactly what they want changed using text.

In a TikTok video with over 10 million views, startup founder Jind Alessandra captioned it, “AI gave me a new shirt,” using Canva’s Magic Edit to transform her floral romper into a workplace-friendly outfit.

“If you have a photo you love and want to use as a headshot, but it’s not professional enough, Canva has your back,” Alessandra says in the video.
She then shows how she highlights her first outfit in the video and then creates a new shirt for herself, explaining what she wants to wear instead.
Canva’s Magic Edit tool transforms Alessandra’s plain romper into a shirt dress—though it took her a few tries to create her personal favorite outfit.
In a video with more than six million views, content creator Amy King was inspired to use Canva’s tool to transform her black vest into a “professional, chic white shirt” in a photo.

The Magic Edit tool available on the PC and mobile versions of Canva is still in beta.
On its website, Canva explained some of the limitations of the new feature. According to the company, sometimes the results obtained may be “null, unexpected, or different from what you expect.”
He also noted that “created effects sometimes have inconsistent lighting direction, color, or style.” Magic Edit can only be used up to 25 times per day.
