
After living her life on her way for 74 years, Brenda K. Penner, of Millerstown, passed away on April 13, 2023, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born in Juniata County on March 27, 1949, Brenda was the daughter of the late David and Clarice (Fisher) Kerstetter.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Glenn F. Penner, daughters Heather (Peter) Brummer and Erin (Benjamin) Warner, and her grandchildren, Ethan and Ella Brummer, and Abigail and Madeline Warner, all from Millerstown. She is also survived by her sister, Anita (Jack) Van Horn, of Richfield.
Brenda is a graduate of Greenwood High School and the University of Shippensburg. She has been an elementary school teacher for over 30 years in the Greenwood School District. She has also served as Greenwood Township Supervisor, Field Representative for Senator Jake Corman, Perry County Commissioner, and Deputy Director of Planning and Community Development for Juniata County. She has also served as President of SEDA-COG and several other public service organizations.
Brenda has also been a board member of Wings of Kindness, the Greenwood FFA Alumni, and the New Bloomfield Lions Club. She was currently attending East Salem United Methodist Church.
Brenda fought cancer for 34 years, and she spent many of those years in remission and living her life to the fullest. Her family would like to send their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ricardo Carter for his amazing staff in the office as well as the loving nursing staff on the fifth floor at Lewistown Hospital for allowing her to fight cancer her way to the end.
A memorial service for Brenda will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023, at New Harvest Community Church in Millerstown, Pennsylvania. There will be a visit with the family starting at 2 pm with the service at 4 pm
