AISD: 120+ recommended jobs after the teacher job fair

City says 7,000 summer jobs are available for Boston youth ages 14 to 18

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Charter School District said Monday that its teacher job fair on April 15 was a “tremendous success.”

According to an email sent to parents Monday afternoon by interim supervisor Matias Segura, more than 360 people attended the event and more than 120 were recommended for jobs.

AISD said last week that it has approximately 225 openings to fill for the 2023-24 school year.

Arnoldo Gutiérrez, assistant superintendent of human capital at Austin ISD, told KXAN on April 11 that the school district doesn’t have as many vacancies this time of year as it usually does.

However, current teachers still have time to resign before their resignation deadline, which is 45 days before the first day of teaching, and the district is working on hiring in the meantime.

This employment includes salaries for special education, bilingual teachers, and housing options.

Currently, AISD offers a bonus of $7,000 per year for teachers of bilingual classes and $5,000 per year for teachers of special education classes.

AISD also has a deal with the Austin Apartment Association that includes 37 properties that run exclusive deals and discounts for educators in the area, Gutiérrez said.
